    Krimshild for review

    Hello guys,
this is not really my field and i would need your help on a Krimshild that i just got.
It looks like a well worn piece (possibly a Deumer type?) and what's strange it seems that one pin is missing under the paper backing
    Is this an original Krim?

    Many thanks,
    Stefano

      ......

Certainly looks OK...original Deumer as you say.

Interesting to see the type of prongs used though

Interesting picture Peter, the position of the prongs looks right, don't you think?
Is this the first kind prongs used for this badge?

          Hello Stefano!

As Peter stated, an original Deumer shield. My personal opinion, a later manufactured piece due to the wear on the head area. Earlier pieces had less wear in this area and came from the same die, so I think a die wear progression points to a later made piece in this case.

As far as attachment pins goes, I think we need to rethink old train of thoughts concerning this subject. IMO, many types of pins (needle, flat, short vs long) all could have been used simultaneously throughout the manufacturing timeline. In some case, different styles were both used on the same shield. Remember, these were just used to attach the shield to the backplate and covered up, so who really cares what was used and when? It's the die characteristics that should tell the story IMHO.

          Nice shield!
          Tim

Hi Andrei...nice to see you over here.

I hope you don't mind me using the reverse image from your shield...just comparing those same prongs on the first shield posted.
