Does anyone have any "layered" shields? The cupal para badges are the same process correct? If there are details you would rather not post please PM me. Thanks.

        Hi Tony,
Can you please give us the exact measurements of the shield?
Also would it be possible to make a scan of shield, instead of pictures?

        Thanks,
        Pascal

          Hi Peter,
As Cupal consists of a plating of copper on aluminium I don't think it is possible to cast a shield in Cupal. Cupal shield are always die struck from Cupal sheets.

That's true...what I meant was cast alloy with a silver wash.

                          copper

It's an unissued shield. I can definitely see a copper color showing underneath the shield in places. I just can't tell for sure if it's a copper wash. But if it's a wash there shouldn't be the layering right? I don't know if this helps but it looks identical to the shield in Niemann's big 50lbs catalogue.

                            cop

I took a tooth pick & loupe and there seems to be a small ridge separating the "layer" Maybe all the zinks are post war like the Frontkjempers Is there any relation to the unknown maker cupal para badges?

What I really want to see up close is the bird's head. If possible , post a clear , large image of it. It looks very strange on all the images so far.
