The only way really to back up the clam that the Lappland (or even Balken Shields) is real is to see if the soldier has an entry in his Soldbuch. Many troops even in POW camps where still awarded and documented recieving the shield.

The upper of your two shields in post 12 is a copy. The lower of the two is an original.
The helmet fake quality did improve with time and now may be found made in magnetic metal as well as with wing veins. What the fakers have not improved upon though is the quality of the Black sea “surface”. That may be seen in the picture below. Shield A shows the faked sea finish , shield B – original. IMO

From what I could see on your picture, your shield is identical to A. But take a closer look if you have the shield, I may be mistaken.Attached Files

I do not agree with the statement which Filip made that the first shield which Jan posted is a fake shield.
I know that at some point on the Russian forums this type of shield was declared a fake shield. As I have no knowledge of the Russian language I couldn’t find out the reason for this or if there was any proof for this .
When holding this type of shield everything just screams out original. I am convinced that the well known “helmet fake” is based on the first shield which is posted by Jan.
To make matters I little clearer I will post the two shields next to each other.Attached Files
