Hello,
I have an issue with the shield, I don't like the backing (most real KM Narviks that I have seen have cloth backings), or the gilt finish, and I would like a close-up of the front. It is hard for me to see the details to the dates, eagle wreath and edelweiss (it is very blury-at least to me to see anything).
Could someone please explain the small 4 theory to me and if at all possible post a side by side pic.
Kenneth
Hi Kenneth,
This fake was based upon the so called Deschler shield. Here is a real one. This example was issued to Luftwaffe personnel. Go into the "General Awards Forum" and run a search. There is plenty of information on this fake.

Joe's--good; what used to be thought of as a Deschler shield. Always tell this type for the excessive bubbling to the finish on the front side. Pascal has changed his mind on the maker though, so currently unknown I think.
Jody's--1st one is a classic "snaggle-tooth" in tombak--great shield!
Second one--good Deumer with the filled in neck area.
Mike's--bad. One of the more common copies flooding the market and discussed in the General Award Forum. The flock and "small 4" are similar, but equally bad.

Hi Tim,
I did not know Pascal changed his mind on these. What changed his mind? That's what I love about this forum, learn something new everyday.
PS: Beautiful shield Jody, I need to find the Luft version.
