A) As far as i see the shield of Ardennes has everything as the textbook awarded shield has. Except the fact that it is non magnetic as far as i could read a bit earlyer. That would be a first for me and i would love to see that shield in the flesch (might be possible as it resides probably in Belgium) to examine it. After that i will be able to share my conclusion with you.
(@ Ardennes: I will contact Ardennes about this so we might work something out in order to be able to see the shield in real life (mayby at some SKF meeting in Brussels ? see also : http:www.skf-vzw.org ).
B) i do follow the exact thoughts as Gene on the Shield of KBH.

Cholm shield of Ardennes is original of course. But why did you decide that it had been made from zinc? It seems that shield of Ardennes is from steel because it has typical steel surface and rust changes.Comment

@Gene, the shield of Phil, of which is also think it is original, looks a lot like the one you had once in your collection. If I am not mistake it is now in Yuri’s collection.

So far everybody contributing this thread is either under the impression that the shield from KBH is a fake, or even has declared that the shield is a fake.
Now how is it that when some collectors have the knowledge that shield IS a fake nobody came up with any reason for WHY this shield is a fake.
I believe that one of the main purposes of this forum should be the sharing the knowledge on these items. This has nothing to do of being right or wrong. I am under the impression that KBH shield is original but when proven otherwise I would the very glad as not only me but I am sure a lot of other collectors would have gained more knowledge on these shields and effectively saved a lot of money.
How better to say it the Polux already did and I quote “Let us not to forget. We are a small group of persons which let us share the same interest for a dark period of our history.”
So if you have any information on why KBH’s shield is a fake then please share this with us.
Personally I don’t believe in the theory that this piece could be the first from a run of fakes to get reactions and incite comments.
Although this shield is maybe new to some of us it is in fact being around for a long time. Reason for this is a letter of authenticity for this type of shield by Dr Klietmann written in 1985.

I don’t remember me referring in any way to the credibility of Dr. Klietmann. The letter of authenticity however proves that (if indeed proven a fake) this type of shield has been around for more then 20 years.Originally posted by Gene
