We don't really know how many RK's Deumer made, and what percentage of those are 835 silver types......

I agree, and I am not the one who won it. I think the seller made out great, and the buyer should be pleased as well, just a little lighter in the bank account. If it was a primarily a TR collector, the 1210 euros is "chump change" in that world.

I agree Nigel, the 835 stamp makes it much more desirable, as it's rarer! As a result will command more!
Mathijs once said for every 10 S&L B frames you find one Schickle!! And that the Schickle outshines the S&L every time!
I managed to bag the cased Schickle that Steve sold last year, and I must admit the detail just is finer... if a word.
Either way, this guy has bought a killer cross, lucky sod 😀Comment

I don't want to ruin the party - never the less I'm just gonna say it
- I never understood the hype for the Deumer made RK's at all. They might be harder to find as they were produced in a lower number, but craftsmanship wise it doesn't impress me. I much rather prefer an early B-Frame with nice milky frosting 
My cased Deumer RK surely isn't amoung the favorites of my 57'er collection by far.
Now, as for Deumer made German Crosses - those are fine pieces !

I think the 57er world tends to hold the Deumer produced awards at a "higher" level across the entire range of the Ordensgesetz. S&L is viewed more as the "common" maker, which I guess it is. I really like all early 57er RK, and the early B frame S&L are very "tasty" even compared to the Deumer RK. The slightly larger dimension of the Deumer RK does give it an edge, especially with the frame/core paint taken into account. In the end, each collector has to be happy with whatever they decide to collect.

A couple of interesting points you raise here.....
Beauty as they say is in the eye of the beholder, and while the quality of the Deumer made RK and EK is excellent, I must admit I do prefer the white beading frosting of an early S&L to the silver finish of Deumer, its like something's missing???
Also some 57 makers seemed to excel at some medals or badges but weren't the best at others??
Deschler being a good example, many of their pieces don't compare to S&L's or Deumer's, but their KVK2 is the exception being IMO , the nicest one of all!!

Interesting thoughts guys. Absolutely - beauty and preference is in the eye of the beholder. If we all preferred the same RK's - prices would be even worse, than they already are.
This is what makes this hobby so great - it's the large variety of what you personally find interesting -
Nigel, Deschler is a very good point. Think about their German Crosses. They are quite rare and hard to find but not as stunning as an early wide-pin S&L. Then again they did produce a beautiful KVK.Comment

As to answer you're question , unfortunately the Deumer Oaks Steve sold seperatly to someone else, but I was lucky enough to bag the cased Schickle 😁
I do love S&L B frame RK's as many of you have mentioned, and I own a couple, there's not a lot in it, maybe it's the rarety of the Schickle that gets people excited, I don't know.

I just meant here we are discussing a 57 RK that might go for a thousand Euro's.....which is a big deal for 57 collectors, but TR collectors I guess are used to dealing with much bigger numbers when it comes to wartime RK's, wether they can afford them or not the reality is, unless you drop on bargain of the century, we all know TR RK's are very expensive compared with even the most desirable 57er!!

I didn't take it that way at all. My point was that if you want something bad enough you will make some sacrifices to get it. We agree that the TR KCs are priced quite high, then again prices on some '57 examples aren't exactly chump change either.
I was lucky in getting both of my Schinkle examples thru the selfless help of my great friend George L. That's another story for another time tho.

I have several S&Ls in addition to the Schickle. IMO the quality of the Schickle is notably better on average. Looking closely st the fit and finish S&L is good but the Schickle is better.An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.
