    I think the first thing we need to be sure on is are the badges cast or die struck?
    If they are cast, then there is much more chance of Souval having a hand in their production!!
    Can either of you say if they are cast or not??

      Hello Nigel,
      I'm really not sure, but I think so (casted).

      Perhaps an indicator for a casted piece - they are a little bit smaller then the Deumer examples.

      heigth = 44,0mm
      width = 36,4mm

      @grueni1208: Your badge also?

      best regards

        Thanks Pattex...hopefully Daniel will confirm if his is the same!!
        We know Souval made many pieces using a casting method, but it is unusual that the pieces are based on Deumer originals rather than S&L who appeared to provide Souval with most of their later parts and/or dies??
        Slightly smaller size is usually a sign of casting for sure!!

            Thankd Daniel!
            Looking at the closer photo's, the size and the weight, it appears that these SWB's are indeed cast!
            So, that pretty much rules out Deumer as the maker, although the badge is cast from a Deumer original!
            The fact that at least a couple have turned up in Austrian vets groupings, points to an Austrian maker being most likely......
            Souval, or someone else??????

              I think for sure Souval. This is a setup used on L/58-marked badges as well, so it seems Souval would cast whatever design he could get his hands on, whether from S&L or Deumer. The attached blockade breaker is Souval's L/58-marked casting of the S&L wartime design with the same setup.

              Best regards,
              ---Norm

                    Souval was the maker of these WB's
