Hello Sepp, I'm going "NUT's" trying to ID the RKT !! He has to be a SS vet, but I have looked at every photo of all the SS RKT 's and I can't come up with a match ? I know there would never have been any other branch of service attending at the funeral of Dietrich. All your post today are super as always ! Thanks Sepp !!! Tom

A priest with a group of '57 awards, including the DKiG, gives the last words on the funeral ceremony for Karl Dönitz.

The original inscriptions reads: "The former admiral of the fleet Karl donitz laid at rest in aumuhle near hamburg West/Germany: About 5000 people paid the last honour to the former admiral of the fleet Karl Donitz, when he was laid at rest on January 6t 1981 on the churchyard of aumuhle near Hamburg. Numerous high-decorated officers (in civil) of the second World-War had been under the funeral-guest - under them also former submarine-drivers of west Germany, of Austria and representatives of soldier-associations of great Britain, France and Italy laid down garlands. Although the attendance in uniform had been forbidden for members of the west German defence forces, some unknown people, wearing uniforms, were seen in the crowd. Karl Donitz, Supreme commander of the grear German Navy in the end of the second World-War and in succession to Adolf Hitler as President ot the Reich, died on December 24th 1980 in the age of 89 years. At the war crimes trial in Numerenberg Karl Donitz was sentenced to an arrest of ten years, and since his release out of the ally military-prison in Spandau 1956 he lived in Aumuhle near Hamburg. Original caption from a military magazine of 1959:

The decorations may be worn again: Since April 1, 1958 the soldiers of the Federal soldiers may wear again their decorations from the last war. When on duty or off duty only the "Small decoration" may be worn, the "Ritterkreuz" and the E.K.I. (distinguished service Cross I) contrary to former times no more will be worn in the original type. The "big decoration" only may be worn in very few cases and also then with the consent of the federal Defence Ministry or the commander of the division. Picture shows: A colonel of the federal-air-force-owner of the "Ritterkreuz" in the last war- wearing the "small decoration". The upper ribbon is showing how the "Ritterkreuz" will be worn now a days and the two ribbons on the left side are the award of honour with the E.K. ~~~(distinguished service Cross I) and the E.K. II (distinguished service Cross II) (without copy of the EK).
                Interesting photo, don't you think

Looking at the favourite ss personalities thread I wondered if it might be Vinzenz Kaiser? I shall take a stroll through the RKT thread again. Or Fritz Henke? (nup, wrong nose) Or Karl Heinz Lichte Post 886 on the Favourite RK thread (p 60)

I think Kaiser was listed as MIA & presumed dead in the "Last" days of the war (April 45).

Anybody knows the name of this RKT? The photo dates from the mid '50. Is very interesting to see he has the Knight's Cross display in reverse...

                                Regards,
                                Sepp.
