On several 1957 hinges, one can se a slight bend in the hinge. Could it be that the profiled material used for the hinge, comes in a long string that is rolled together and thus creating a bend ?

Here's another look at the hinge/pin setup on the EK I bought in Germany in 1972.

Could be. But the two KVKs showing that similarity are otherwise quite different. They're not even the same size.
