Indeed Tom. Sadly for us, the opportunity to visit with most of these men has passed.

One of the things that gives me the most satisfaction is seeing named groups along with the history of the men posted here. This thread, Pierce's new bars and thread and so many more here carry on the names and spirit of these brave warriors and that is a good thing.

Acquiring rare pieces is absolutely great. Studying the characteristics of the pieces from various makers gives great fun. Interacting with one another and learning is awesome, but the thing that brings the hobby alive is having a name and a face and history to put with an item.

I have relatively few attributed/named pieces compared to many here. Nonetheless, it's keeping the history alive that's the best aspect of collecting, IMHO.
