Hallo Xmember,
That is a very nice group containing very early items!
Sadly there are some crucial items taken from the group, I will post the missing KC and ribbon bars when it was auctioned a few years ago.
Maybe you should start a seperate thread because there are still some very interesting items in the group.
The P/O is a very nice and early badge but looks to have a replaced pin to attach the needle in the hinge.
(it was already like this when the group was auctioned, so I guess it has been done by Mahlke himself).
The fighter clasp is very unique like it has been made.
I have only seen one other clas[ made like this.
Here is the (old) thread of the other clasp:

The medal bar is very nice and interesting because it is engraved at the Italien medal.

Hi Luud,
Thanks for the info on the Pilot's badge. I can start a seperate thread because I had problems posting the rest of the pictures but had to stop. I saw the other items that are missing from other threads posted here in the past. I have been trying to reach out to people about the BW uniforms and the RK, ribbon bar and some other medals but without any luck. As everyone says, this is the fun part of collecting. It's good to know the clasp is unique. I will look at that thread.
Mike,
More coming my friend.
Regards
Rudy

A great idea for a thread Mike but it does present a problem........how does one choose a "favourite".
I am torn between two favourites of mine but in the end have decided to plump for this Officer's ribbon bar, the reason being it is the embodiment of what I love to see on a 57er ribbon bar- Wehrmacht service with something foreign on the end.
Here we have:
-Iron Cross 1st Class;
-Iron Cross 2nd Class;
-General Assault Badge;
-Wehrmacht 12 Year Medal;
-Wehrmacht 4 Year Medal;
-D.S.B. Badge in Bronze;
-Bulgarian Order of St. Alexander, Grand Officer Grade.
Best regards

Great choice Pierce!! not easy to pick one i guess, as i know you have many nice 57 ribbonbars!!!
This one has a nice combo of awards, including two long service medals, which always look good on a bar, and a foreign award on a bar always makes it special!!!

Hello Patrick,
It's very nice to see you here with us! Thank you for posting these very interesting badges. There has been speculation about maker, by myself and others, but I think the jury is still out.
There are some remarkable characteristics like the solid rivets and wide catch on the Glider. Two things we're not used to seeing together on one badge. The components appear to be from S&L. The components on the FJ badge appear to be S&L as well, though the lack of "berries" on the wreath are certainly not typical for S&L made badges. The eagle on the FJ is also at a lesser angle than seen on typical S&L FJ badges.
Two intriguing badges for sure that need more discussion and study to determine the actual hersteller.
Thanks again for sharing them with us and please visit often!Last edited by Mike Yokum; 04-25-2012, 09:24 PM.
