What do you mean with the hinge blocks?
Do I have to check my Deumer EK's to see if there are different hingeblocks?
I have 5 or 6 of them but never noticed a different hingblock, interesting
There are two different types of hingeblocks on the Deumer EK I. A wide and a small one, i donĀ“t have the measurements in mind but i think Nigel has

Both are, if i am right, early but the wide one seems to be the earliest.

[QUOTE] The worst part is that I found out that there were a few unexpected items extra in the group.
And I didn't take a lot of extra money with me and I just lost 100 extra euro's on the accident....so I had to leave stuff behind today
      /QUOTE]

But i really hope you managed to get them later??
Do they belonged to the RK ?

Hi Luud, if you look at the Deumer EK1 hingeblocks carefully, you'll see there are two different widths, the earlier ones have a wider hingeblock approx 8mm across, the slightly later ones have a narrower hingeblock at approx 6.5mm.
The wider hingeblock is the same width as wartime Deumers (if i remember correctly)
Theres a few other differences i've noticed too, the earliest usually have a matt black core, and the backplate is coated with a matt silvery white finish, the slightly later ones usually have a glossier black pinted core, and a bare metal backplate that is normally quite shiney!
Theres some transitional pieces that have some early and some later features on the same cross, but overall, these features can help with the "timeline"

          Ah, I understand.
I checked my deumers but they all have the same hinge finish and paint.
I have them with some variations: vaulted and flat, unmarked or with L/11 stamp and with 2 different needles.
Here a picture of 3 of them compared to the wartime hinge left below.
I guess that I don't have any with the smaller catch and glossy finish?

Good comparison photo Luud, nice to see the 57 hinge alongside the wartime!!
Looks like all your 57 Deumers are the very early ones!!!!!
            Great crosses!!!!
