Going to pick up my latest RK

I am exited today because in 10 minutes I will jump in my car to drive to Belgium to pick up a RK grouping.
Normally I am not so fastly exited, but this will be my first early set with RK that has oaks with swords.

Here the pictures of the RK and oaks, not the best pictures but good enough to see what they are.
If I am back before it is dark, I will try to make better shots than the seller.

Sorry my friend but the cross WAS in Belgium.....sorry that I have beaten you on your territory.
I picked the group up just across the border below Eindhoven, so it was only a 70km trip for me. Otherwise I would have been happy to swing by....but would have left your place with the RK in my pocket

But after more than 20 years driven without any damage my luck changes when I crossed the Belgium border and met an american guy in an old huge Belgium van with towbar that made an emergency brake when he thought that he was too late for the green traffic light.

I will make some pictures of the cross asap but I first need to fix this .

Here some pictures that I made before it got too dark.
As seperate pieces the group doesn't really contain special pieces but I did include pictures of the EK1 for Nigel because I know he loves those.

The 1957 S&L 1st pattern b-type RK and the S&L oaks with swords are IMO born and worn together.

I hope you like them as much as I do.

Here a better shot on the frames.
There is still a lot of old polish on the core, but I descided to leave it there.

                  better shots of the oaks.
Notice the loop that is bended to show the RK better.
                  This happend more often.

Sorry to hear about your accident I hope there wasn´t too much damage on your cars

                    Now up to better things
That is an absolute great RK and it really looks like the oaks with swords have been there for a very long time --> worn together.

Is there anything known about the wearer? In this case that would be outstanding !!!

The EK I is a very nice and early Deumer, as usual a wonderful piece

Has the RK stored a little bit bad?

I don't believe it has been badly stored.
I think that partially the protection layer has been removed due to wear and polishing and that gave it the chance to build of a thick layer of patina on certain areas.

Ach, don't worry about the damage.
The Belgium guy drove a huge ald van and only had a scratch on the towbar.
He tried to make me responsible for many old dents that I impossible could have made from that angle that I hit him with my small car.
But I just give him 100 euro to call it the day and let him be happy with it.

Beautiful group Luud, great for us to see, and even better for you to own!!!!
The first thing that struck me when i looked at that first group photo, was the wear and patina on the pieces, it looks just about identical on the RK, EK, and Oaks A really good sign that, as you said, the RK & Oaks have always been together, and the EK too!!!
The Deumer has the wide hingeblock, which i think is the earliest type, in fact i think all the pieces are pretty much as early as you will find:tongueout
I would'nt clean anything Luud, these are pieces that are 50+ years old, and have been well worn by a vet, that to me makes more important historically, than a mint RK or EK, that has never been out of its case!
Do you know anything of the vet???
Anyway, congratulations on a TOP early group of vet worn awards!!!!!

                          Thanks Nigel,
I found out that there was some more to the story. But that is still in progress.
The worst part is that I found out that there were a few unexpected items extra in the group.
And I didn't take a lot of extra money with me and I just lost 100 extra euro's on the accident....so I had to leave stuff behind today

What do you mean with the hinge blocks?
Do I have to check my Deumer EK's to see if there are different hingeblocks?
I have 5 or 6 of them but never noticed a different hingblock, interesting

                            Hi Luud,

Just a gorgeous set you have there and as already said, they don´t come better when it is clear that it was owned and worn by a veteran.

A big congrats on the catch

Also great to see, what must be the earliest Oak & Swords for the 57er RK. Important documentation in my opinion.

                            Well done
