    small DKiG grouping

    Hi gents and friends

At first i have to say "Thank you" to a collector friend here who stood back and so i was able to get this nice grouping

Here is now my highlight for this year (last year the Dreike RK) and i´m really sure that this group will be for a very very very long not for sale

As you see there are the following awards:

    - "Kreuz der Ehrenritter" of the Johanniter Order
    - DKiG
    - ribbon bar
    - PAB 50
    - EK I
    - GWB

The group is attributed to "Ernst-Jürgen Freiherr von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen".

    Born 15.06.1917 / died 29.10.1993

    - DKiG as Oberleutnant 7./Panzer-Regiment 31 on 10.02.1944
    - Hauptmann in the I.(Panther)/Pz.Rgt. Brandenburg (ex I./Pz.Rgt. 26).
    - wounded in action 14.04.45
    - at the end of the war he was at the eastern front, got not captured and took the long way home alone - running and hiding

    - in 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr as Major
    - Commander and teacher at Heer Officers School in Hamburg
    - Commander Panzerbatallion 24/ Panzer Regiment 6 from 18.02.64 - 03.10.67

That is all i could get from this brave man. I sent a few mails to a few sources, hoping to get a response to find out something more about him.
Sometimes aristocratic familys "protect" their family and don´t want to be asked about a member. So it maybe will be a long run to find out more.
But what i have at first brings IMO a short, but good overview about this brave man.

The picture of him is from the source http://www.panzerbataillon24.de (Copyright)

For me this is a very honest and consistent grouping. All awards seems to have the same production date and IMO all have been bought at the same time.
Date of production IMO early 60s.

Already commented on GCA, but will add here as well .

There aren't many 57er groups available ( unfortunately ) as they are mostly split up for $$$ reasons . So, its refreshing to find such wonderfull group, named even !!!!

Also, its nice to see there are still gentlemen in our 57er area who can take a step back and see items going to the people who will treasure them.
Seeing what Rüdiger sacrificed to add this one to his collection, it shows he much he cares about the history behind these pieces.

And finally ... as you already stated and pix show ... all of them early made pieces in great condition .... I congratulate you on acquiring this group .

I shall add my comment on the DKiG gold wreath ... allthough earliest made piece, the wreath shows some flaws ... maybe the last batch of these before they switched hardware ???

Fantastic Rudiger!! Best grouping i've seen for a long time, some really nice early pieces in there, and some seldom seen rarities too!!
I think, like you said, the pieces all date from around the same time!!
As Mathijs said, its great that the grouping was kept together and not split up, and i'm glad its gone to someone who really appreciates it, and will take good care of it for many years to come!!
                  Well done Rudiger!!! -Nigelparty0036.gif

Indeed a highlight Rüdiger my friend! A very, very special group to a special man! Knowing his history makes a fantastic group all the more special! Each piece is great in it's own right. That PAB50 is one of the finest I've laid eyes on.

Cheers to the member who stepped aside so you could get this set! I'm thrilled for you buddy!

Yes, that DK is a S&L. Heavy version with messing backplate. Weight 79,33gr

                        @ all
Many many thanks for all your kind words. I really appreciate them

Just got response to an email that i sent.... The obituary from him in a magazine from a company he worked for. New insights to his wartime "career".

At the beginning i had only his name and now the circle will slowly be closed. That searching for information makes this hobby more special
I´m really courios what i´ll find out in the future

                          And one more update
Today i could get the evidence that he was a "Ehrenritter des Johanniterordens".
It´s been shown on the familys death notice which i could get from a genealogy site ( yes, i had to pay for that )

Now my biggest wish is to find a photo where he wears all his awards. Best would be wartime and Bundeswehr. I´ll try to find out more and keep you posted

Imagine a photo of him wearing his awards, displayed next to the actual medals!!!
