Sorry to go off topic, but if you think the 57 RK is bad, check out his 39 RK:

I'd agree with David on that being an S&L piece for posted. The one posted by naxos is an earlier 2nd patt by S&L as well.

Thanks a lot guys for your input and expertise. Much appreciated.
This one stays where it is.
It shows i have still so much to learn about these RK's.

On the other hand it is rather interesting to see there are sources that speak of Deumer producing 57 RK and others say Deumer didn't produce RK at all. Without a doubt this will be discussed further in the future.

            Best regards

              Hello

Yesterday i also contacted the first owner of this piece to ask when and where he got it.
Here is his story (free translation): "Unfortunately i don't know the exact year because it comes from a veteran Nachlass. The veteran left the BW around 1970, so i assume that he has bought all of his medals at the Kleiderkasse earlier then 1970. For exemple his EK was an early S&L medal from +/- around the '60.
When he sold this medal at ebay he didn't want to mention the name of the veteran because it wasn't part of the auction. And he still doesn't want to tell who it was."

A very nice story of course but given the outcome of the analyses of the RK, i don't believe this.

              Best regards

David and George are right. S&L. I looked at one of my non ferrous core S&L's from the 80's, and it had the same exact worn pattern on the outside edges of the frame. The biggest difference between mine and this example, and the thing that threw me off, is the finished drilled out eye of the frame. This was done with much earlier crosses, but not later ones. The rest of the frame screams of 80's S&L.

P.S. Does anyone have a Deumer RK that they would like to show?
