Mike, what method do you use to take those great photos?

I don't do anything special really, but I'll try to describe the method I use.

I use a relatively cheap and old Canon PowerShot S410. I use a very dark blue background and find overcast days work best. I live in sunny NC so those are few and far between, darn the luck!

Anyway, I use no flash and on this camera I typically use "-2/3" exposure to darken the background and mute the lighting somewhat. I use "auto" speed, "neutral" hue and "superfine" settings and that's about it. How these settings may translate to another camera I don't know, but just play around and eventually you will find what you're looking for.
