    Some New Shields

    Hello again,

    Here are some new additions and some old shields to show my entire shield collection.

    Nice ones, Vince. I think you have got the entire collection there. I could be wrong here, but I thought there was also a Gold Narvik shield ?

        I just located a gold Narvik and it is on the way to me! The only other one I am missing is the CHOLM shield.

            I think the Jury is still devided.
            But I think the Narvik and Demjansk have a chance of being early.
            I think the others are modern.

            If I remember it correct, The Lappland is not an official 57 issued shield.

                The Lappland shield is a 57er version - here´s a site from a 57er catalogue.

                  In my opinion the answer to your question is no. At one time I did own an origonal war time/post war Lappland shield. The shields made after the war judged by condition, attaching pins, and material of construction will help a collector determine if the shield in question is a genuine war time/directly post war time shield or a 57er shield.

                  It is a fine line when you are dealing with a "nazi" shield that never had a swastika on it to begin with. If one has ever had the opportunity to have them side by side, there is no comparison.

                    The Lappland shield had been excluded in the Ordensgesetz, there was and is no allowance to wear it.

                    It is not a 57er catalogue, it is a catalogue from Friedrich Sedlatzek, "Orden beider Weltkriege", orders of both world wars.
