Riddle - what would you say, what is this?

    Gents,

I am very sorry for being childish here, just a small riddle: at the first sight, what would you say, what this badge would be?

Another miniature? That looks very interesting is it has been made up like the full size badge. It would then be a little like the TR EK I miniature Sepp was showing in the Crosses section.

      Well, at first glance......
It looks to be a combined Pilot/Observer badge.....
      The hardware looks like S&L's....
It appears to be one piece, without a separately applied eagle.....
The pin is mounted horizontally (I think)

This is not even German, have a look. I trust this is a Austrian Pilot Badge. Shall we say it is German made?

Ha, look at that. Nicely made by S&L

            Hi Andrew!
I don't think this is a pilots badge??? Maybe more likely an Aero-Club badge or similar??
The Austrian flag does have red/white/red bands, but horizontally, not vertically.
So maybe for a German association???...i'm sure someone will know!!
How does it compare size-wise with a 57 pilot badge??

Actually why I thought it was Austrian: this was part of a bigger collection I have recently purchased. The Souval EK & Wound Badge, the Honour Cross and many other fairly modern / post WW2 awards & badges were part of the group, I would be surprised, if this was the only German item, to be honest.

You could well be right about it being Austrian Andrew!!
Souval used S&L hardware on their later pieces.....so it could be one of theirs...

By the way it is cca 57 mm wide (at the wings).

Here's a similar piece for an Austrian aero club.....
