    Interesting Ike Jacket

I picked up this Ike jacket years ago from a resale shop for $15.00. Just came across it again when going through some stuff. Everything came with it as shown, including the ribbon bars and the overseas cap.

This guy was obviously involved in a landing, but which one? There is no serial number in the jacket, but it does have his name written across the back: GREIFENDOR F.

Any thought or can someone direct me how to find more information about him?

Really, really nice, please sell it to me

Try Geoff at Golden Arrow Research, he may well be able to help.

          Yours, Guy.

I believe patches are for engineers....Spearhead (landing) would be european theatre...Could be Normandy......Bodes

Is the overseas cap for engineer?

Thanks for posting this chart. Looks like the overseas cap is piped for Ordnance?

                    Or?

The branch collar disk is that of the Army Transport Service and not the Corps of Engineers, which seems strange to me. Of course, almost anything is possible.

Had to do a double take as I just saw one almost identical to this without the amphibious patches at a garage sale this weekend - same style of stitching with same ADSEC patch.

The interesting stitching always makes for an interesting piece.

                          Hi Tom

This doesn't tell you what you want to know but it's probably your guy (not a common name) and at least gives you some background.

                          Nice to see you yesterday!

It is always nice to see you, Terry.

                            Thanks for this information.

I thought his name was GREIFENDOR F, the "F" being his first name, but I think you are correct in seeing GREIFENDORF

Now I have his serial number as well as his name.

                            Tom

On further research, maybe this is not the correct Greifendorf.

This guy was in WW2, but was in the AAC?

                              Does that make sense?
