What was the point then of developing the T-1? Fashion accessory?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this point......

"Here's a test for you or anyone who thinks otherwise. Place an M1 helmet on your head with the ball chinstrap and have someone hit the helmet off your head with a baseball bat. If your theory is correct then you shouldn't have a neck injury.... right? I can guarantee that before the ball chinstrap breaks free.... you will be going to the emergency room for a neck brace."

You may have noticed by now that it is not my own personal theory that I am talking about... But yes, if the theory of the guys who invented the ball chinstrap is correct, then I should have no neck injury. (assuming a baseball bat blow will have a similar effect as a blast... a sort of "probably") Apparently, that test has already been done: "At the request of Army Ground Forces, a research project was undertaken to develop a new chin strap device which would be released by the force of such a blast. Numerous tests were begun on a model of a human head constructed of wood and rubber and mounted on springs."

Anyways, even if I did have to go and get a neck brace installed, the point is that at least I wouldnt have to go and get installed in a coffin, as would maybe/"probably" be the case with the older model of M1 chinstrap.

With all the evidence from various sources that has been brought to the thread by myself and several others, I would have thought that you; and not me, should be the one who would need to do tests to prove your point.

By the way, I have no helmet with a ball chinstrap, otherwise I would gladly do a bit of testing.

      JL

Ha Ha! ok, I give up. Your brilliant arguement and obvious knowledge far exceeds mine and that of the U.S. Army in this case. It's really a pity that during the time of war the government didn't have better things to do than waste their time and resources on such a useless item. I'm amazed those morons were able to even win the war! The Greatest Generation? More like the Keystone Cops it would appear.

You sir would have an outstanding career in presidential politics

You sound like a member of the resistance now..... I have a helmet with the T-1 ball chinstrap that you can use.... matter of fact I can supply the baseball bat also. The only catch is that I won't swing the bat at your head.... I'd hate to be charged with manslaughter so you'll have to find someone else to do that. So there's the challenge.... put up or shut-up.

True.... I have much more knowledge then you. The Army has wasted billions on research.... I have seen it.... don't even get me started with the SGT York program.

And after reviewing your posts I realized you were just an old man who has realized his life is slipping away with nothing to show for it

Actually it's because of newbies like you that many experienced collectors have stopped sharing their collections or helping out on this forum. It's a pity the military doesn't teach manners.
