Kinugasa (衣笠 重巡洋艦 Kinugasa jūjun'yōkan) was the second vessel in the two-vessel Aoba class of heavy cruisers in the Imperial Japanese Navy. The ship was named after Mount Kinugasa, located in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan.
Three stitches at the rear of the liner, and a painted size mark on the shell.
Can you please tell me how you reached your’s?
Regards
Russ
Shell is marked with diamond and a S in the back inside - pic in #3 (nobody sees this? - owner please confirm - I could be tricking myself), liner is leather, NO ink stamp behind front pad, writing in white paint in the top (although classically numbers for IJN helmets). All typically point to navy. I think the front emblem is postwar/souvenir stuff. If I owned the helmet and i really had to know for sure I'd gently bend back tabs, removes the emblem and see if there is a ghost of a star or an anchor over the paint. Then if it was an anchor -I'd pursue an anchor and vice versa for a star. or just enjoy it as it is! :-)
