Small heavily illustrated book

More and better pictures... if anyone can help at all with the translation or even what kind of book, when it was written- it would be greatly appreciated. It is in fair/poor condition- the pages are super soft, the binding is just a maroon/red thread through the pages in the seam.. the cover is a blue background with white flowers (chrysanthemums?) any help, words, age, intent/storyline- I would be very grateful. Thank you

Biography
Prolific, late-Edo period author of popular fiction (gesaku). Of samurai birth. Known especially for "Nise Murasaki inaka Genji" (False Murasaki's Country Genji; 1829-1842), a rewriting of the Tale of Genji in an Edo-period setting. Documented various aspects of Japanese social history, including popular customs and publication of erotic books.
