Thanks Guy for the translations! I am going to keep all this information with the flags. Hi Frank, These two flags were obtained here in California from the Vets family, although not much was known. The only other item that came with these two flags is a bottle of wine from the 1999 1st Marine Division reunion.

Just started to do a little research on some of the names on the flag. Have only looked at a couple so far. It seems to be loaded with interesting guys. A couple of Navy Corpsman right off the bat.

Beautiful flags Paul! I especially like the U.S. autographed flag with the Codetalker's name. Amazing history you have there....one of the greatest reasons why we collect good luck flags.

Very cool! Extraordinary to find the code talker's name. About as good as one can get in getting code talker related memorabilia from the war.

Thank Jeff, MikeB and George. As you guys say, this flag is full of traceable history. Using the information I was provided, I just found some pictures of the Marine combat medic who brought the flags back from the battle of Okinawa. One of the pictures shows him with a captured flag, not yet signed. Could it be the same flag?? The name has been removed, as the Vet is still alive, and I do not have permission to share his name yet. I love the uniform picture with the Navy Corpsman sleeve rate and the 1st marine Division shoulder patch.

                  Pair of Flags....

                  Paul-
How great is that! So happy to see that you have been able to come up with the images of the Marine who brought your flags back to the States. My guess is that you will be able to discover some good history on these in the weeks to come.
Good Luck Flags are amazing pieces of material culture all by themselves. However, when the history has been recorded and is then verified by someone who was boots on the ground, that often long forgotten old relic becomes amazingly important to those studying the history today. The story becomes personal, real and undeniable. Please keep us updated as things surface...

HI Keith, Thanks for the picture. When I pick a name off the flag and do a little research, just like you have, its amazing what kind of information there is on some of these guys. Some have led incredible lives full of achievements. As Mike B said, their story becomes personal.

                                Paul,

Those are some awesome "bring backs". Have you ever thought about ordering all of those Marine's records? You never know what you might find out. The Rolls are on Ancestry and could be a starting point.

                                Regards

                                Mark
