It appears to be an authentic IJA Officer sword in Type 98 mounts. The fittings are of mid grade quality and some appear to be missing. Based upon what I see so far I'd suggest a value of around 750 USD.

This sword appears to have spent the last 70 years in the company of a very heavy smoker as all the fiittings appear to be heavily smoke damaged.
