          Hi and thanks
          The seller says "
IN VERY NICE UNTOUCHED, AS FOUND CONDITION. STEEL SCABBARD RETAINS MOST OF ITS FIELD GREEN PAINT FINISH. 700 MM LONG BLADE NEAR MINT, NO RUST OR PITTING, STILL WITH STORAGE GREASE. MATCHING NUMBER TO THE BLADE AND SCABBARD THROAT. COMPLETE WITH KNOT."

What do you think is a fair price?
          regards

Sounds nice with the knot, but I dont see it in the photos?
It has to be made of leather and with a small brass buckle.
Missing lots of paint ,it still looks to be in okay condition.

                  Hello Frank,

You show an authentic Japanese Imperial Army Type 95 NCO sword. It's the aluminum tsuka (handle), top latch, brass tsuba (hand guard) version.

The maker appears to be Iijima although it's difficult to tell with the photo depicting the fuchi stampings. It was produced for the Tokyo First Arsenal while it was still under Kokura administration. Note the serial number is read with cutting edge held down. Nagoya blade serial numbers are read with the cutting edge is held upward.

The saya (scabbard) is a Tokyo Arsenal piece as well. They differ in several ways from those made at the Nagoya Arsenal.

Gunto commented upon the knot. In a perfect world yours would have the buckle but many can be found in the later configuration without the buckle.

As to value I can suggest that in the North American market it would command a price of perhaps 700 USD if the knot is without the buckle and about 800 USD if it's the earlier buckle version.

                  Regards,
                  Stu
PS: If you can get a clear shot of the group of three fuchi markings I can confirm the maker for you.
