From this pictures I would say that it is a nice older blade in gunto mounts IMO.
You need an opinion from a nihonto collector to give you an aproximate date of manufacture. I can 't help you with this.
To be honest I wouldn't mind to have it in my collection

Was the length of the blade mentioned anywhere?
Looks like it might just make it as a katana...maybe 60-62cm long?
It strikes me as maybe being an uchikatana around the end of the 1500's..maybe one of the so called "bundle-swords" (kazu-uchimono)
Just a wild guess though, based on what I see.
