In my limited knowledge I believe the blade is traditionally made (hand forged)

Bob you can blame me all you want, novice sword collector ect ect but I asked very politely a couple of times before your 'there is nothing more to be said' posting if I could provide better pictures and of what areas ect. Yes I am very much new to this and quite clearly stated that and politely asked for help and advice on identifying this blade and some of the guys here have been kind enough to give it. What more could I have asked or in what manner? I'm just glad some of the guys here have been kind enough and helped me out on this and I persevered. I would have otherwise miss identified this blade. There is nothing more to be said.... Regards Johnno.

I will say some more the habaki has been polished , one thing I dont like.

I would like to see a photo of the full nakago without any fittings. And the area between the blade and nakago.

i went on a house buy once and bid on a ww2 sword got called the next day to say i could have it at my price .when i went to pick it the the old guy had done me a favour and taken a buffer to it!!!

Unfortunatly your two last pictures may not be very helpful. I see the fibers of the blue carpet better than the tang itself.

Gunto was also asking for a picture of the full tang, the part of the blade where you have this nice dark patina, the end of it is very important because the way it was cut is a big clue to date the sword (more or less), even if there is no signature.

I believe you should make a real clear picture of the tang in full if you expect to have more assistance on this sword.

A little more guidance, if you will accept it, is to refer to Japanese items as such rather than shortening the word to "Jap".
