Frame 11 shows pictures of some pages from the scrap book where other Marines/military personnel signed their names and addresses. I've had many of these, but what is odd about this one is that some of the names are crossed out. I can't help but wonder if the crossed out names are those of men who were later killed. My guess is that they are. Why else would they be crossed out??

Fantastic grouping. The autograph book really brings it home...the reality of war.

I looked for the crossed out names in casualty rosters for Tarawa, and at least from what I saw, those names were not present, unless the listing was incomplete. If not, maybe these men were casualties in battles afterward. It looks like other island battles for this Marine unit included Tinian, Saipan and Okinawa.
