Hello, after inspecting this grinding wheeled blade I was already walking out the door of a local pawn shop when the owner asked me to remove the handle. I was suprised to find way more kanji than I expected. No tsuba, the blade a wreck but a suprise on the tang. Im not asking for specific translation but Im curious in spite of the ruined blade if this is notable. Best, Bill

The final pic, out of focus shows one of several grinding wheel marks. There is a faint billowing temperline, hardly seen. Best, BillComment

Well, I'm willing to bet that his given name is not pronounced "Mamaru" -- but that's what my Nelson's says it is. I cannot find anything about him on the internet.
