    Ugly blade/many kanji katana

    Hello, after inspecting this grinding wheeled blade I was already walking out the door of a local pawn shop when the owner asked me to remove the handle. I was suprised to find way more kanji than I expected. No tsuba, the blade a wreck but a suprise on the tang. Im not asking for specific translation but Im curious in spite of the ruined blade if this is notable. Best, Bill

        The final pic, out of focus shows one of several grinding wheel marks. There is a faint billowing temperline, hardly seen. Best, Bill

          Left image, right side of the tang:

          Okano Hirokazu Shoji [suru]
          Owned/possed/carried by Okano Hirokazu

          Right image:

          止まん
          Uchi Ryou Toman
          Never quit striking/hitting.
          Uchi can mean both "to shoot" or "to hit"

            Right-half:
            為 [for the benefit/welfare/sake of]
            日本刀号献上
            Shin'ei Ki Nippon-Tou Go Kenjyou-zou Kore
            Newly Produced Machine Japanese Sword Item Presented structure this

            I sure hope NICK reads this.... does this inscription mean this newly produced sword is machine manufactured?

            ========
            Left-half:
            越後国住井口眞円
            Echigo (no) Kuni Sumu Iguchi Mamaru

            Well, I'm willing to bet that his given name is not pronounced "Mamaru" -- but that's what my Nelson's says it is. I cannot find anything about him on the internet.

            =====
            Okay .... I quit.

                  how can anyone tell from the photo if this is machine made oil quenched?
                  the inscription could refer to anything in the swords manufacture or not
