Writing is going right to left which is more typical of post-war Japan (but not unheard of before that).

Bottom "Unit number 5?90" Hard to read the top and bottom because it is all wrinkled in your photos.
Writing is going right to left here which is normal for pre1947/48 era.

Fuji-Maru, a ship's name Wisteria-maru.
NOT to be confused with this Fuji-Maru: 富士丸 [Mt.] Fuji-maru. Same sound, different ship.

I can't find any images of WW2-era "Fuji-Maru" with out spelling.
