I had the opportunity of meeting with a Japanese collector last evening and see his collection. He had some extremely rare items and variations of headgear and uniforms -and photographs that would knock your socks off. The lions share of his collection was obtained in Japan within the last 15 years. There are plenty of rare things still here in Japan for those willing to hunt them down.

Wow thats great! Tell all these collectors you meet to share, contribute & join us on these boards. Even with the language barrier a picture is worth a thousand words & with the new translation system availible I look forward to seeing. Sure, there are items to find in Japan. But don't continue to mislead our readers. Without a knowledgible traveler experienced in buying in Japan, with years of connections & inside introductions the average traveller will be disappointed. The fleamarkets finds of stacks of civil defense helmets, saki cups, photo albums, army canteens, surplus tunics will disappoint some of us. Japan is an incredible place for a vacation. It's also high on my list to visit. I would'nt expect to find a double decal SS helmet in Germany but it wouldn't stop me from trying. I still believe there as much or more rare Japanese militaria in the country brought back by returning GIs. Not to brag but through networking & the internet I've found more things in the past two weeks without putting on pants. I want to thank Dan for his terrific photos. Most posts from him since he became moderator years ago!

Dean, that photo of Mt. Fuji sure brings back memories. I took a similar photo from the train some 40+ years ago.

            Regards,

Dan, didn't we look at a large grouping of original SS & Luftwaffe items yesterday that was for sale also?
Wouldn't be surprised if when we come back next time, to see the rest of the collection, that we will see the helmets that are for sale, who knows maybe a double decal SS.

Yesterday ( Tuesday ) John and Dean went to Osaka castle, hopefully Dean will post photos. I had the task of packing the things that I had bought in the Osaka area to be shipped. What I stupidly thought would take a few hours turned in to 4-5.

No, I don't ship things loose, they get packed pretty well.
