Well the Chinese Jian comes with the Japanese officers sword as an extra..as this is how this fella recieved it as well. Just trying to learn about them. Its not like its a repro sword...it was made originally to serve some purpose...might not be the pretiest thing,but it is what it is

Im a Nihonto guy but think i see quality when i see it, the same alone on the handle looked good to me. id like to see the full blade and the rest of the fittings. How long is it?

I know enough about them to tell you this is not an old sword nor was it ever ment to be used in battle. Compared to a Wartime Japanese sword it is only worth the price of scrap steel.
Just because the blade is shiney and it has a cheap acid etched Chinese characters on the blade does not make it any more than what it is a cheap piece of tourist crap that is usually sold in Taiwan and Hong Kong to individuals who are totally uneducated about Oriental weapons. Or sold through martial arts magazines.
By the way there is a reason that it is being "thrown in"on the deal. It is a piece of junk.
But if you think it is a Chinese master piece I am sure that the current owner will be more than willing to make you a good price for it and you can hang it on your wall with pride.

Hey Brian, the reason Its being included because it was brought back by the same veteran and has been stored ever since..(along with other items that is coming with the trunk).. are you stating that looking at this sword you can tell it is 100 percent not ww2-or preww2?
