I have an opium/tobacco pipe very similar to the long smooth slender one you have pictured. It was brought back by one of my grandfathers. He picked it up during the recapture of Corregidor. They would have been an easy item for the Japanese solider to pick up in China.

If you have a pipe that is very similar to the one pictured here, it is definitely a Japanese tobacco pipe. Although most Japanese were smoking cigarettes by ww2, some still used the old fashioned pipes and even soldiers still carried them. Opium was not generally used in Japan and the pipes for opium are entirely different from these.
It sounds very interesting to have found one on Corregidor. What unit did your grandfather serve in?

The belt appears to be American... with initials of the GI and a lady he met at a USO who may or may not be an actress or performer.

The belt is a standard type U.S. garrison belt. The 98th Infantry Division spent the war guarding Hawaii and was sent to Japan for occupation duty after the war ended.

It's made of a "cheese cloth" or wool-like material. It does have some mothing... but... excellent overall.
