Yes. First pattern covers (yellow felt anchor on wool oval) can be found with ink stampings. Ink stamps are not the same markings or format as army dual ink stamps. Eric & I are uncertain if these stamps are found only on early 1st pattern examples or are just a different maufacturers variant. I've never seen a second (woven anchor) pattern cover with marks.

Here is a close-up of the stamping...
Note the Navy procurement stamping is different than an Army procurement stamping.
Also, not all first pattern Navy helmet covers were marked, and like Jareth mentioned, I too have yet to see a second pattern Navy helmet cover that was marked.

NLF Helmet Cover
Hey, don't forget the patch too! Looks like Dan King bid nearly $700.00 for it and Japnutt bid almost $1400.00. My guess is there will be a bunch of these on the market before Christmas now as folks will be looking to cash out. I need Types 1 and 2 for my collection. If anyone sees one pop-up, please let me know as I have not seen anything available for awhile and $600.00 seems like a reasonable price. MikeLast edited by MikeB; 11-20-2005, 09:27 AM.
