This is a Japanese soldier's manual during World War II. The troop designation is the supplementary team of the ninth regiment of the 16th Division Infantry. It landed in Nanjing, China's capital in December 1937. One year later, the soldier was killed in December 1938. Thank you for comment! Best regards.

Knight,
Your soldier's name was Okamura Kisaburō (or Yoshisaburō). His given name implies he was the third male child born into his family (三郎 Saburō; i.e., Third son); and his grandfather (or father) wanted him to be a 喜 rejoice/pleasure.

I wish I knew more about these campaigns. They sound vicious with a "cast of thousands". Aside from the bayonet threat, I would be petrified if I ever had to come against a Chinese soldier with one of those Dao swords in his hands, yikes!

He was killed by a gunshot wound.
左胸部左肩胛部貫通銃創=左胸部左肩甲部貫通銃創
=Penetrating gun wound at left breast and left scapular region
銃創 is gun wound, not wound by bayonet.(not 銃剣)
