Happy New Year everyone, I got lucky at the end of this year. Finally found a war medal variation that I did not already have, it is always nice to see new variants. These are the seller photos and I will make better ones when I receive it. It also comes with a beautiful long ribbon that shows actual age.

    Hope you like it!
Will be back around 10th of Jan!

In this photo I wanted to expose the difference between a regular ribbon and the wide ribbon (almost like a neck ribbon).

This is the unmarked one that came along with the extra wide ribbon. The obverse looks very similar to those BB&Co. 's. They both have the uni strawberry pattern all over the front and the little ornaments with the same texture around the arms. except the El Gazi which is elliptical on a BB&Co. but circular on this one. On the reverse this one also has a similar catch and pin but not fitted on a separate plate as on a BB&Co., these are fitted on the medal itself and there is no maker mark or silver content to be found. This one also has similar dimensions to a BB&Co. H: 54,18 mm, W: 57,29 mm.

Later this week, I will be sharing a comparison study between the various sizes of Turkish War Medal ribbons I have, would be interesting I guess!

This photo shows the similar pin (not the catch) attachment style compared to a BB&Co. (on the left, below) The pin on the BB&Co. is also much shorter.

So - do you think it is BB&co or from manufacturer that has got "in hand" his turkish stars?

Hey Borzadow always so good to hear from you. I think in future if someone comes up with some decent evidence proving that BB&Co. produced the pin and catch not the whole star I won't be surprised. I can not state this now, nor no one I know can.

One thing that I have realized that in the 1916-1918 period photographs that shows soldiers from the Eastern front who has Turkish War Medals, most of them has BB&Co. stars rather than fancy German made ones. This is just me but I start to think that what we label as BB&Co. star today was produced and/or distributed from Austria but not Germany. This is only my personal opinion, anyone can argue against it but I know no one can know for sure at the moment.

A very accurate display of a Turkish Corporal at Gallipoli. My dear friend Rod Wilson put it together over almost forty years of collecting. He states that the uniform jacket, the Enveriye hat and the webbing were sourvenired from Gallipoli by three different Australians. He found the rest of the accessories in different locations like junk shops and boxed away in the garages of veterans' houses. This will be in display in Melbourne for the next 6 months.
