My Turkish War Medals

Hello everyone,
I wanted to share something that might happen once or twice in a collectors life.
I had this little grouping that belonged to telegraphist Martin Günther and today I have found a photo of him in his Asienkorps uniform which is dated almost a year before his award document. Now I finally get to see the face behind the name, just incredible.

It's a turkish dog tag there ??

Borzadow, if that was a dogtag, Turks would have been almost bullet proof! I would ask my friend what that is. I believe it has something to so with an airplane. Will let you know when I find out.

Borzadow, I got a quick reply from him. That piece of metal was attached on a wooden crate that used to collect donations for the Turkish Aeronautical Association that was founded in 1925.

It is indeed a little big large as to be a dogtag, but that was just my first thought.

Dinner time from feld kitchen. Turkey, Ferdinand Schlucht (Ferdinands gully), 1918.

Unknown unit (probably from Bagdad Railway troops).
Bagdad, 09.03.1917.

The man standing in the middle has a ribbon bar with EK2 and TWM.
The man in white uniform standing at the right edge also has two button ribbons: EK2 and TWM.

Disturbing you say? I wish you disturb more with those excellent photos Borzadow!! Thank you for sharing them, you know I am into the Asienkorps now. The early pith helmets and the light toned uniforms give away their theatre of operations. Possibly they are on their way to Palestine or Irak or Sinai through the Hicaz Railway. The one in the center next to the train wagon has also a fantastic full size EKII/TWM ribbon bar!

Also the concealed buttons on the German uniforms reminds me of the fliegerabteilung personnel, maybe they are from the flight detachment on route to the front.

I also got these two photos which will arrive this week. They also feature same uniforms and belong to the same man from Asienkorps. ı will post much better scans when I receive them.

Hello Merdock

The medal is a BB%Co. but the badge does not look Turkish to me, maybe it is Russian, they use also same symbols of star and the crescent in their medals and badges.
