Anyone know this helmet?

Hello, i recently purchased this helmet. And is there anyone know what is this helmet?
The helmet is made from aluminium.
The weight is approximately 100-250 gr.
It's got 12 holes.
There's some remain of black paint.
The paint is in single layer.
And there's also some remain of duct tape.
And in case if you wondering, i got this in my hometown of solo in indonesia.


Is this a military helmet? A para-military helmet? Or a civilian helmet.

In the alternative, a modern copy - perhaps by a reenactment group - of a medieval helmet, but I admit that Didier's idea is more likely.

How far are you from the old Dutch oil fields?
I agree with Didier, and it matches the older style hard hats I've seen worn by oil crews both pre and post WWII. It might have even been re-issued as a civil defense helmet at some point during or after the war. Kind of a neat piece of local history.
And it's great seeing an Indonesian collector here! Welcome and thank you for showing parts of your collection!

Well i lived in solo central java. Really far from an oil field.
I guess during the dutch era, many of the oil company was in borneo especially in tarakan. I guess the crew evacuate the oil field when the japanese invade and bring the helmet to java?
If you don't mind do you have any picture about a similar hard hat like this?

Hi Timur. I was looking through a few period photographs but haven't been able to find an exact match to this helmet yet. If it wasn't used in the oil fields there it is possible it was used in mines or even as a hard hat in a port or shipyard. The Japanese did make civil defense helmets out of aluminum but they were cast (unlike yours) from melted scrap.

I'd love to see more of your collection when you get the chance!
