The Mussert cross is pretty rare , I heard that alot of these were destroyed by the dutch.
Can you send me some pictures of the cross so that I can put them up for review ?

            Pardon my ignorance, but....

Is this a, uh, military award?

I believe that this was a military award. It came both with and without swords. There was no first/second class

I believe it was awarded by the Dutch NSB strickly to members of the Dutch NSB.? Not awarded to Germans.?? Let someone else inform us.

                      Dutch? I thought so.

Maybe we'll get better answers in the International Forum!

I put a 5X eye loop over the lens of my digital camera. I got the idea from a fellow forum member.

Here is a little info I found in my reference books.
Littlejohn mentions Mussert Cross in volume 2 of his Orders, Decorations, Medals and Badges of the Third Reich (1973)
In the spring of 1942, Anton Mussert instituted a bravery decoration for Dutch volunteers serving with the German forces on the Russian front. This decoration, known as the Mussert Cross, was not issued however. Mussert had not obtained Hitler's permission before instituting this award, and the Fuhrer therefore forbade its use.
Anton Mussert founded Dutch NSB (national socialist movement) in 1931, was executed in 1946.

Littlejohn also explains that the ribbon is Dutch colors and the cross was in one class only and that "this item has been faked in considerable quantities since the war" (yeah, what else is new? )

Littlejohn briefly mentions this award again in volume 2 of his Foreign Legions of the Third Reich (1981)
Mussert, on his own initiative, instituted a special decoration, the so-called "Mussert Cross", for bravery in the [Dutch Volunteer] Legion, but Hitler would not permit its distribution on the grounds that the Dutch volunteers were eligible for all German war decorations and war badges.

Hey, Ed, it works perfect!!!!! Thank you very very much!!!
With a magnifying glass now I can make great detailed pictures! And tried something more - I have the zoom /small tube with lenses/ from an ordinary non-professional 8mm film projector - and with it can make even pictures of micro details!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                              Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
