      Obviously the ones being produced today are modern reproductions, but the one which I posted was acquired from a Veteran of the 115th Infantry, 31st Division which fought in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines.

      Here is a shot of the material acquired from this man.

        What jcwater means is that the current ones produced are "fake," even if they are modern reproductions. The WWII period or the ones later issued and numbered are the "real" ones.

        I just noticed, "Taiwan (Peoples Republic Of China) " is not correct. It is Taiwan, Republic of China. No offense to the mainlanders n_n

                No number medal, the general argument is that the modern American-made souvenirs. Because this version of the medalr not later made in the 1970s.
