These medals are difficult to find, and are issued to americans, and british soldiers who fought against the japanese. Many of the flying tigers were awarded this medal, and the bridge on the front with chaing kai shecks face signifys where the japanese first attacked the chinese nation. There is more symbolism to the design, but i wont bore you with all the details. To this day it is a punishable offense to manufacture this medal anywhwere but in china. Its not often encountered , and like some other chinese awards to americans , they were cherished by the soldiers who were awarded them . The only problem is i havent been able to find any list of the awardees , and may never locate one. A rare medal not often encountered.

Probably only the Taiwanese Government.
These are also manufactured in the USA.

From what I have read so far and seen of these medals, many were awarded to Americans (not only Flying Tigers) after the war since they have the steel/aluminum stamped type bars, like yours. I have also seen this type of serial number font on Taiwan medals dating to the 1960s and beyond.

These were also awarded to their own soldiers. I have seen them with the hook and eye, like the Japanese medals. These are much older and probably date pre 1949 or 1950s, and much more rare.

And these medals are currently made in the US, I believe.

I don't think I have seen that type of case before. The ones I have seen are in the clear plastic and also with a sticker with the serial number.

From the ribbon type, I would assume 1960s and after and made in Taiwan. Unless, you have the documents that come with it to prove the date.

You are likely correct as the Medal was established in 1944 and first issued in 1946, so the examples you are showing are probably from those issued in mainland China.

The one I show is again likely from the 60's as you suggest made in Taiwan (Peoples Republic Of China) and authorized for wear for Military of the US Armed Forces who served at least 30 days between December 8, 1941 to September 2, 1945 assisting the Chinese Armies in the war against Japan.

The most well known group of recipients was about 200 veterans of the 14th Air Force, the Flying Tigers, at a special ceremony on August 2nd, 1975 in New Orleans.

The medal is certainly being reproduced and available today in the US for about $20 bucks.
