I disagree Chris. These helmets are very desirable. The number of Polizei collectors like Gerd (ja?) would astound you. I would say the value of your LG marked Haube is no different than an unmarked GDR Nr. 1 Pickelhaube. Gerd, is that LG set in #23 yours? Wow! Could I possibly obtain a larger photo? If so, would you mind if I share with some Polizei collector friends in the US? They would salivate. MvG Tony

      Thanks Tony,

never too old to learn and I suppose it was just my uninformed initial perception which nzef1940 also seemed to be suffering from that a Garde Dragoner would be far more desirable than mounted police.

I have changed my mind entirely now that I see the very low number of actual personal in this unit and the amount of interest which you have told me about.

I have always liked my helmet and interestingly it was brought back by the NZEF official trophy unit from the Western front in 1919 so it is an interesting helmet in more ways than one.

Appreciate the benefit of your experience,

      Chris

            No

#1 This Sergeant is member of the Schutzmannschaft Berlin - 1898 this unit had round about 5000 men, 220 of them were mounted (Sergeanten/ Wachtmeister) and most of the 150 officers

-so you could find mounted officers in the "blue" Police as well

            #2 parade mounted Schutzmannschaft

            photo # 1 is mine
photo # 2 not mine (out of my reference files)

Hello Tony, to answer your questions:

              - Yes

              - Yes, but not many are only in Imperial or Weimar (I am!)

              - I think you are right with (it´s hard to find any "green" stuff)

              - The display in #23 is owned by Mr. Horst Friedrich, who is a fellow German Police collector and more or less the Police weapons "pope" in the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Polizeigeschichte e.V. .......a weapon guy he is, so don´t care about the wrong foot gear the display has

Tony I´ll forward you a 2600x1000 photo via mail!

As much as I constantly attempt to ignore your bizarre interpretations or comments I can’t let this one go.

When in this whole thread have I ever attempted to down grade or comment a Garde Dragoon helmet was more desirable than a Police Example????

All I ever wanted to confirm was that my lid is what it was originally billed as being a Garde Dragoon helmet...

Really Chris, enough of your Boorish, tiresome snipes, just for once? For gods sake

Apologies to the genuine contributors to this thread but this kind of behavour is becoming a hallmark of 90th Light.

Also it’s Dragooner not Dragoner, you should know basic English being a grade school teacher.

Is this the end of the thread, I doubt it.
