Thought I would post this beauty that arrived on my doorstep recently. I have been after one for ages, its all ummessed with and in lovely condition with most of the fire guilding remaining on the front plate.

I think it's a private purchase helmet for EM and NCO's, but it has officer's kokarden...

Yes, Garde Dragoner Regt. Nr. 2 had silver fittings instead of brass.

Excellent helmet,

I do not think this style with the silver garde star on a gold brass eagle was worn only by one unit because I have a Pickelhaube exactly like this one except that it is has an EM/ NCO eagle and EM/ NCO cockades and an interesting turning plate in the spike to close the ventilation holes when riding at speed on a horse so I am told.

but the marking on the rear visor is "LG 11" which is not Garde Dragoner Regt. 1

Does anyone know what "LG 11" stands for ???

the nearest I have found so far is mounted miltary police unit 11 or "Leibgendarmerie 11" but I am not sure if this is correct or not. Did they wear Garde Dragoner uniforms and helmets ???

No differences what so ever except for the the ones I have stated

- EM/ NCO garde eagle

- EM/ NCO cockades & chinstrap attachment lugs

- Inside the helmet at the bottom of the spike is a rotating plate which can close off the air/ vent holes.

plus - EM/ NCO liner

All the rest is exactly like your one right down to the mounted version of the chinstrap.

Unit marking "LG 11" which is not Garde Dragoner ???
