    Thank you guys for all your input, I quess when I put it for sale I will tell them it was redone at some point, and then people can make their on mind if they like it or not.

      What a interesting helmet

      the painting is indubitably ancient.
      The camouflage must be adapted to the landscape. Originally it had can be a general color of the ground, connected to a use in the trench. After July, 1918, the war becoming again unstable, the soldier has can be considered sensible to paint its helmet in green tints, more in agreement with the new battlefields.

          I might buy the change of camo theory... somebody please post their example(s). In nearly 40 years I've never seen one that could be considered as such. Could this be my first...

          There are spots of the blue/green, and ? paint inside the shell... if you look close you will see them. Rajko told me one looks like a fingerprint...

              All of the repainted panels are consistant with being very old, and painted at the same time. They could very well be an original change in camo pattern. I'm not so sure the bluey/green is modern latex. I would leave this helmet just as it is.

              My bid is in... anybody else?
