    Guys
I,ve started walking around work muttering " Iam lost on these camo Guard helmets." Then a workmate said "Put it on that forum thing your allways on about!"
    So here it is.

I am pretty sure I saw that on on Ebay and it gave me a bad feeling. And I am pretty sure Chuck called it bad.

Ask yourself why the shield has gone the way it did. Did you ever see a decal or shield that meleted as that one seems to have. There is a lot of wear that can happen to a helmet but melting is not an asspect that makes any sense.

        Eric,

This one gives me a bad feeling also. I don't like the size, shape, or location of the painted shield. I really don't like the forced wear in the paint... it looks like it was rubbed-down... There is no wear at all on the high points of the paint in the shield. I would not pursue this one as an original.

          Thanks Gents
Yea, it has been rubbed up to remove surface rust etc. But I thought I,d made a hit on this one. Ah Well, here,s a picture of the liner.

              Eric,

Are you sure the chinstrap is an original? I'm not trying to beat you up my friend, but, it looks pretty thick, and, I've always questioned those with the "bent in the center" end buckles. What do you think.

Tell you the truth, Iam blooming useless when it comes to straps too.
I thought those thick straps were a late war replacement to get away from the inaffective Pickel strap commonly used. I,ve seen them before on M17,s. One things for sure its really old!

Sorry Eric, this one doesn't convince me eighter for the same reasons the others already mentioned...
The chinstrap is indeed a bit strange, but nevertheless it looks original. I've seen other original helmets with straps like this. Maybe it's just another variation?

                    Thanks Gents
I respect your opinions. I,ll try and return it, but I,ve had it a bit too long. Failling that, I,ll sell as an ok lid with what looks to me a half decent liner. I dont want it in my collection, it does,nt belong.
I should of posted the helmet as soon as I received it.

                    Regards
                    Eric

Eric I don't think it's a worthless helmet the liner is good. I think the chin strap is too but if you can post more detailed photos of it would help.

I had a completely original chin strap that was thick like yours but it was so degraded I never used it to dispplay, it was sheading leather fuss. The Stiching had come un done to the point all hardware could be removed with out any any alterations. But it was thick.

What do you think I should do with this helmet?
Its stands me a total loss. As William say,s the liner looks good, should I remove it and sell seperate and try and regain something?
I tell you Gents I feel humbled and stupid for falling the very thing Iam allways mouthing off about.

                        Thanks

Eric what did you have to pay for it? Is the paint bad? I can't tell but looks to be.

I think also the liner needs to be looked at in detail. Note the liner pads have no wear in the line cord holes. The other wear looks a little forced. Note the brite color of the liner as it desends into the liner band in one or two spots. Are these issues for anyone else?
