To your first question... ABSOLUTELY NOT! What you are seeing is a completely untouched example, with original dirt and mud straight off the battlefield.

As for the plate... I will not return it. I bought the whole setup not just the plate. Everything, "but" the plate will be sold.

If it's not sold already I am looking for a better repro then I currently have.

Don't know about that W... the plate just might turn out to be an original.

          Chuck,
I,ve just been checking out your latest camo that started this thread. Its a beautiful helmet. What stands out for me is the fact its never been cleaned up. These helmets are really becoming hard to find, especially camos. Here,s my example. I love the way it still shreds dirt even after 90yrs.I hope you have,nt given yours a damp sponge bath! I never will.

Well more power to ya if it does. Even if not I think the helmet alone was worth close to what you paid. With a buyer ready to take a fake plate off your hands you don't lose any value on the deal. Very lucky to have gotten the shot at it.

                W.

PS, oh wow almost 2500 post now! :P

That's a beauty Eric. For those that know me... I "ALWAYS" leave them as found. I've thrown down more than one collector on this forum, and elsewhere after they have destroyed their artifacts by a good cleaning and/or applying a ton of whatever to the leather. To each their own, but that really pisses me off to no end. I've got a line on a couple more...

                  Chuck

Holy Cow!!! These are wonderful camo helmets! I'd love to have a "line" on a couple of camo helmets as well!

Watch what you wish for, here is a line right now. I don't know why it's not sold yet.
