Keep posting bad camos guys. We don't have a bad camo thread people can refer to. There was one for sale from the UK that was BAD BAD BAD but I could not drag any photos to my desk top on the auction. Not sure why. Here is the link. Totally mis represented!

Well here they are... The seller claims it's all original... what a joke!

Thanks for posting those! It's a fake and bake helmet that fooled some poor soul to the tune of almost 500 dollars.

            Oh BOY,
The sad thing is with these they may be original underneath. Why oh why do they do that? Check out the rear rivet 'moved' to the left front. Whats that about? a tire rotation!!

              Guards Helmet

I nominated this one and Chuck concurred. I can say what I see wrong with but you guys feel free to go at it.

                  Here,s my two cents,
First the shield is too large and wrong shape.
Second, its set too low the top of the shield should be inline with the bottom of the vent stud.
                  How did I do?

                  Eric.

                    Sorry three cents,
Its been 'acid splashed' to make it look period.

That's the way they do it in Latvia.

That is the real tip off. Whatever it is on the insignia they tried to make it look rusty. But more paint results in less rust. You have factory paint. Camo paint and then the shield. All that rust should not be in that one area when on the border of the shield the rust factor drops off abruptly. Just does not add up.

Never mind the Eastern Eurp location of the seller.

Yup, they use the good ol' acid splash trick in Latvia, since most of them don't have outdoor pools with chlorine in them to let the helmets sit outside by and "age" a bit slower!!!

Thanks for the great pics of these helmets guys! Hopefully it will save some poor soul from wasting their hard earned money on helmets like the one from the UK you've just posted.

                          All the Best,

                          Alan Schaefer

                            Sorry W.,

The location in this case (and many others) is very important. Latvia fakes have been discussed on this Forum (and many others) at great lenghts in regards to faked WWII and WWI German helmets. Don't even think about it!
