New discovery on the Buckle!

There is a scratch on the back and in the scratch I can make out the color of a penny! There is brass or copper under the grime!

An Enlisted Soldier in pre -1907 'Parade Dress'. Buckles could be brass or Nickel (granted it does look to have a brass state motif).
I read about the German WW1 Soldier,s 'Rule of engagement' years ago in the library at the Imperial War Museum in London, it is documented. In fact there is a recent ref: to this in Johan Somers book, vol 1 page 93. Be nice guys I was only trying to help!

Rules of engagment has a very British twang to it. If you read about it in London was it only mentioned by the British source? I'd guess if it was protocall in the German Army it might have been called by another name?
