    Ammo pouches good or bad?

Got them off ebay. Need your expert opinions on them.

    I have two to show.

First one I believe is a reproduction based on what I know of wear on 100 year old field gear, this just does not look right. Please correct me if I am wrong. Here are some photos. What do you guys see?

Also are they infantry issue or are they Cavary issued?

They look good to me and I think they are infantry as they hold 3 stripper clips per pouch where cavalry held two if I am correct.

William, they both look fine to me. The brown to black pouch is typical of later war when the Germans made the switch in finish. The pouches both look infantry being the deep ones. The cavalry ones resembled WW2 Infantry pouches in depth so were thinner. I think you did OK. What is the date on the brown to black pouch? I would expect 1914-1915? Also, I haven't seen maker markings on the repros. Mike.

Black pouch is 1917 the older looking one is 1916. Both are maker marked but I cannot make out the makers as I am not in the know about any of the makers so don't know them at a glance.
